Costs & Expenses
- If you decide to go to the Gerson Institute in Mexico aka Clinica Nutricion y Vida, the cost for a minimum 2-week stay is $11,000. The 2-week stay is enough in my opinion. If I had to do it over again, I would NOT go to the clinic as the workers are really just there for their jobs and nothing more. If you are disciplined enough, you can just do the full therapy from home and just do the monthly phone consultations with the doctors at the clinic. The clinic in Mexico will get you into the habit of doing your juices, enemas, and taking your supplements on time. Other than that, you really do not need to go there unless you really want to learn first-hand and not have to do anything yourself for 2 weeks. The clinic is next to a very toxic gas station and you can smell it from your room!
- A 3-month supply of supplements will run you between $1100-$1500. This is only for the supplements, not supplies.
- Norwalk Juicer - $2595. If you live in the state of CA, only buy your Norwalk Juicer directly from Norwalk or you risk having to pay a $300 sales tax.
- Automatic Water Distiller - $1229. I got the Durastill 4640 from Reed Pettingil of http://www.thewaterdistillerstore.com/. Reed is such a nice man and he helped me install the water distiller through my faucet via Facetime. He is very helpful and very kind. There's a plethora of videos of him on YouTube if you just type in his name. Also, expect your water bill to go up and your electricity bill. Our electricity bill went up by almost $400. This month it's over $400.
- Stainless Steel Pots and Pans - We use Nutri-Stahl but any stainless cookware, as long as it's not anodized or coated will do.
- Air Ionizer about $350
- A Rebounder - $729. Rebounding is the only acceptable and allowed exercise on the Gerson Therapy. I got my wife a Bellicon Rebounder because it's the only one made of bungee cords that she can jump on even at night without making any noise. It is also easier on the joints. You can also get a really cheap one for under $50 by Pure Fun but it makes a loud squeaking noise and it is not as comfortable. My wife ended up using the one from Pure Fun for a week or 2 and it has been tucked away in the garage since. ReboundAir is also another good choice if the Bellicon is too steep of a price. You can however, contact the company and ask to see if they have any "specials." I was able to get a showroom piece that was actually brand new but because it has been opened, they gave me a $100 discount. You can also do a 6-month payment plan with PayPal's Bill Me Later.
- Expect to spend around $3500 on organic groceries a month. Remember, on this therapy you are consuming over 15lbs of organic juices a day.
Supplies
Probably the most expensive investment you are going to have to make on this therapy is the Norwalk Juicer. I suggest buying directly from them. Another alternative is to check out and speak to a gentleman named William of WholeHealthFound.com. He restores older Norwalk Juicers to better than new. Even if you are not a customer of his, he will speak to you if you have any questions on the Norwalk.

For the juice cloth, you can use an organic, undyed muslin cotton from Organic Cotton Plus. It is $6.94 per yard if you order a min of 5. Otherwise it's $7.50 a yard. Just cut the fabric to the size you want.

For the therapy coffee, I highly recommend cafemam.com. Just make sure to indicate the following:
How to prepare:
In a stainless steel pot/pan, put a little over 40oz of distilled water (only distilled, no other), put 15 tbsps or 1 cup of coffee and bring to a boil. Simmer down for 15min. Strain and add a little more water to ensure that you have at least 40oz of the coffee concentrate for the 5 enemas you will be doing for the day. Put in a stainless steel thermos. Remember that this is a concentrate and you will only need 8oz of this concentrate for each enema.
For the chamomile tea, only use organic loose leaf, not bagged. You can use any brand but I only use an organic one for $15.28 for a 1lb bag by Starwest Botanicals. It's the cheapest one I could find and the flowers have a really nice aromatic smell. In a stainless steel pot/pan, put a little over 40oz of distilled water (only distilled, no other), put about 2oz of the dried chamomile flowers and bring to a boil. Simmer down uncovered for 15min.
- Caffeine: Regular
- Roast: Therapy Roast
- Grind: Therapy Grind

Make sure to only use a stainless steel thermos when storing the coffee and tea concentrates, no aluminum!
I like these ones by Thermos. They are double insulated and are made of stainless steel inside and out. They keep the temperature hot for 24hrs while it remains cool to the touch on the outside. The handles are kind of annoying though but they are still the best ones I could find out there. Midnight Blue Color is $24.99 |
Just remember that you do not want the enema bucket hot, especially if you are using a plastic one as that can be toxic. What I suggest is you pour in 16oz of distilled water first then add the coffee & tea concentrate right after. You want the mixture to be warm to the body temperature, not hot.
Raspberry Color is $34.09 |
UPDATE: We no longer use the plastic bucket. I DO NOT recommend using plastic for anything. We now use the stainless steel one by PurEnema.
Here is where to get the cheapest enema bucket around. It's great for the daily coffee/tea enema. Pour in 16oz of distilled water. Then add 8oz of coffee concentrate and another 8oz of the chamomile tea concentrate to make 32oz altogether. Make sure that the mixture is not too hot! I like this one by Kendall Seamless. Price is $5.29 per bucket. You still have to buy the red catheter though. |
Castor Oil Days:
For the castor oil enema, I recommend a stainless steel enema bucket since you will need to get your bucket hot in order for the oil to pass through. I found the cheapest one by Soul Genie for under $25. Add a pinch or 2 of ox-bile to the castor oil enema. I like using the one by Time Honored Formulas |
If you'd prefer an all-inclusive enema bucket, I suggest PurEnema Stainless Steel Kit, $59.95
|
For castor oil I only use organic castor oil in a glass bottle. It is hard to find an organic castor oil in a glass bottle at a store but make sure to only buy it organic and in a glass bottle!

For rebounding, I bought my wife a 44" rebounder by Bellicon, $729. I use it too. It is worth the price. It is easier on the joints and it healed my wife's sciatica that she had suffered from for years!
You can watch a video of it here.

The Durastill 4640 (makes 12 gallons a day/ holds 10)
Because of the amounts of water required on this therapy (coffee/teas, soups, washing the vegetables), we invested in an automatic distiller that is hooked up to our sink. We also shower in distilled water due to the fluoride in our water system. I found the cheapest one for $1229 from Reed Pettingil. He walks you through installation with his video and if you are stuck, you can Facetime him. Very nice man! |
Watch Reed Pettingil show you hot to unpack and setup your water distiller. I was able to do all this from the video then I called him through Facetime to show me how to connect it under the sink.

Zodi Outback Battery Powered Shower
This shower is great for showering with distilled water. It requires no installation. You just hang it on the shower head and use the handheld shower. Price is $32.16 |
For an All Stainless Steel Food Mill, I use the one from Weston. Price is under $28. I initially got one for $50 from OXO Good Grips and although I like it, I prefer an all stainless steel one.

Supplements
I regularly scour the internet for the best deals on supplements that have no corn/soy/sodium and are excipient-free (no magnesium stearates, stearic acid, or any other toxic binders). The only exception to this are the Inflazyme tabs since no other company makes them other than American Biologics and they put magnesium stearates in them. So far, this is a list of what I could find at the cheapest price. If you are able to find one at a cheaper price, please let me know. If you prefer to get everything in one place, I only recommend Time Honored Formulas. After doing all my research, they are the only company that have the cleanest supplements. At the institute, they provide supplements from Ishi and I will NEVER buy anything from them. All their supplements have excipients in them and their thyroid grain comes from Merck! Yes Merck, the maker of Vioxx! It even states on the (Ishi) paperwork that the thyroid grain is "not Gerson-approved."
Time Honored Formulas is the only place I will recommend that carries all (if not most) of the Gerson supplements. They have the cleanest supplements available and they provide excellent customer service. Their prices are a little more on the high side however they are all top quality. If you are looking for a One Stop Shop then this is the place for you. They are really old school and do not have a website though so you would have to either call or email them and ask for Judi or Oscar. Here is their price list as of Sep 2013:
From all over the net:
- Inflazyme Tablets (500tabs) - The cheapest I've found for $73.71 (Usually runs around $114.95)
- Acidoll Pepsin
- Colostrum
- Potassium Compound
- Lugol's Solution (2%)
- CoQ10
- Niacin
- Selenium
- Pancreatin
- Defatted Liver Capsules
- Milk Thistle
For the Organic Flax Oil, make sure that it is NON High Lignan and NOT nitrogen flushed. I prefer it in a glass bottle but I have not found one that isn't Nitrogen-flushed. My favorite is the flax oil from Barlean's
