Pros of Going to The Clinic
- You will meet some of the BEST and truly remarkable people from all over the world.
- The women in the kitchen preparing all the juices are all very kind and the cooks are great. They always made super delicious meals. I wanted to take them home with me. I think I was the only one who gained weight on this therapy, lol
- The security guard was very nice and professional.
Cons of Going to The Clinic
- The clinic has gone rogue and there is no sense of management as far as who is handling what.
- On our first day, I was given my supplement box and was told to take at regular intervals. When I asked what each supplement was just so I know, the nurse said "Just do as you're told!"
- On the 2nd day, I got my monthly and informed the nurse. She still put Niacin in my box (I had no way of knowing yet which one was the Niacin) since I was supposed to just "do as I was told. When she found out I was given the Niacin, she just said "Why did you take it when you know it causes more bleeding?" That's when I demanded for her to tell me what each supplement was and she gave me a picture of all the supplements with the names. She could've not done this in the beginning????
- I asked for some sanitary pads and I was given a heavily scented one. I had my husband call downstairs to get me an unscented one, he was told by the nurse that "that's all they had and it was fine and hung up!"
- A little later in the afternoon I met my awesome neighbor next door from Canada. She told me how she was told by Dr. Cervantes and another doctor that they could not treat her and to go home because they "did not realize how big her tumor was!!!" She was so upset and her husband was livid!!! You have to get a PETscan before getting admitted to the clinic and they could've told her this before they flew out to Mexico. She cried for days until Charlotte came and she told her that she could stay at the clinic. The reason given to her? She could stay as long as she is willing to follow everything the therapy requires (whatever that means!!!)
- Ishi, the main supplier of their supplements had Magnesium Stearates in almost ALL of the supplements. It was only after I pointed this out that they finally changed it but it was a year long process before it was done.
- Each patient is given glycerine in their room to use in place of a moisturizer since you cannot have any oils on this therapy. I looked at the bottle, not only was it NOT organic, it was also soy-based!!! I mentioned this to Charlotte and she didn't even know anything about this glycerine. She then told the clinic to stop suppling these glycerines to the patients.
- I remember in the book about the B12 shots since I wanted to do this therapy to a T so I asked Dr. Cervantes. He said the clinic ran out so they were giving us oral B12s. I asked him to show me how to inject myself so I would know how to do it when we got back home. He instructed Magdalena to show me - she said something in Spanish, rolled her eyes then walked away!!! Dr. Cervantes jokingly said "See how lazy she is? She doesn't follow orders!" I went to my own personal doctor in the US for this and I had to pay $165 to get this lesson on how to self-inject with the B12!!! Absolutely ridiculous!!! By the way, none of the other patients bothered nor learned how to inject themselves since they were never told to do so and just went by whatever was written on their protocol.
- I called the San Diego office to inquire about sourcing this B12 shot, they were unaware that the patients at the Clinic were not getting their shots. There is a major disconnect between the clinic and the San Diego office. I was able to find one from The Compounder, a compounding pharmacy based in Utah.
- They regularly served quinoa for lunch which is super delicious but very questionable since Dr. Gerson was adamant about the patient maintaining a low protein diet, a least in the beginning. I asked Charotte how acceptable quinoa is for us to have and she said "Well.......(shook her head)...." That was the answer I got, so basically no answer.
- The thyroid medicine they supplied was from Merck! I asked the doctor why we couldn't get a cleaner one. He just told me "Must you question everything?"
- My friend who had stage 4 colon cancer (we met there and stayed friends after), was given the exact same supplements as me. His health went downhill fast on this therapy. After trying to get ahold of Dr. Cervantes for months, he was told to check out doing mushrooms and Chinese herbal medicine!!! (TOTALY AGAINST THE GERSON PROTOCOL). He has passed away now.
- A couple of times Magdalena drew my blood without gloves. I demanded for her to wear them each time but she always gave me an attitude about it.
